Dass die mal vollkommen entfesselte, mal hochgradig abstrakte Musik von Triathlon total frisch klingt, hat nicht zuletzt damit zu tun, dass hier nicht ganz auf Form verzichtet wird, man sich jedoch auch nicht von formalen Vorgaben in ein Korsett zwängen lässt. Während früher das rebellische Potenzial der freien Improvisation häufig in Beliebigkeit bzw. Egozentrik mündete, geben sich die Musiker von Triathlon gemeinsam dem flow der Musik hin und zwar so uneigennützig, dass man das Gefühl hat, dass sie von einer übergeordneten Instanz gelenkt werden - und trotzdem bleibt jeder von ihnen als Individuum erkennbar. Meier, Gisler und Pfammatter spielen keine Rollen, sondern schlicht und ergreifend Musik - Musik voller Phantasie und Punch, Euphorie und Melancholie, Sensibilität und Radau: "sound of surprise".

Formally known as "Group A," at the 2008 IASJ Meeting in Riga, Latvia, these incredible, young musicians knew that their first meeting was something special. After a week of challenging, inspiring and creative work together, they realized that it wasn't the end. The group decided to stick together and have been renamed the "European Jazz Motion" [EJM], with exceptional European venues already booked. Helping them is American jazz bassist, Gene Perla, who has performed and recorded with many great artists including Elvin Jones, Nina Simone, Sonny Rollins, Sarah Vaughan, and Stone Alliance.
EJM is revitalizing the jazz music world. Some fans have described them as the "New European Jazz."

With "mumur", Markus Lauterburg's quintet initiates a journey of musical tensions and sounds somewhat akin to a desert landscape. Extensive plains, waterless sea beds and rocky mountains are what inspired Markus Lauterburg for the compositions of his new album "ennedi", which is full of eccentric sound structures. The musicians plunge into the reign of the unpredictable with emerging islands on the horizon. Mainland. Noted music to nail down and then release, to discover with its own musical repertoire every single new landscape. Markus Lauterburg is not only a drummer, but also bandleader and composer of the music for "mumur", albeit being rather generous with the other musicians for their improvised moments. Tobias Meier, Dave Gisler and Valentin Dietrick are three young talents of the new jazz generation who bring added value to this music. Finally, Martin Birnstiel (cello) gives a personal and colourful touch to the opera.

The Vitale-Magatelli-Windfeld trio was formed during the international summer workshop in Siena, Italy, in 2007, when Italian musicians Luigi Vitale (Vibraphone) and Mattia Magatelli (Bass) met with Danish drummer Christian Windfeld.
An immediate creative spark was lightened between the three musicians and the seed for a fertile cooporation was planted.
Today, just two and a half years later, the trio has an impressive record with more then 30 concerts round Italy, the issue of a critic acclaimed Album feat. the great Pietro Tonolo and a second prize in the international contest for rising stars at "Getxo Jazz" in Bilbao Spain.
The near future brings a tour in Denmark in spring 2010 and another tour of Italy in the summer of 2010.
A second release with some 2009 recordings feat. the magnificent Swiss saxophone talent, Tobias Meier, is on the way and during the summer of 2010 the trio will go back to the legendary Artesuono studios near Udine to record their third release also feat. Tobias Meier.
In a curious and youthfull way the VMW-trio breaks down the boundaries of what is normally associated with traditional jazz music and creates new and origial music with an equal amount of inspiration from classical, jazz, free, folk, pop and whatever other music they’ve come across in their lifes.
In a highly refined interplay the group exchange and develop ideas in a manner that has brought out strong feelings among its audience. Two concerts are never alike due to these highly skilled musicians ability to reinvent their material and react to the athmosphere of the venue.
The VMW-trio represents a fresh sound in jazz, a sound of past and present that looks ahead, into the future!

Poesie und Musik stehen seit jeher in engem Zusammenhang und dienen sich oft auch zur gegenseitigen Inspiration. Die Kompositionen von Gregor Frei lassen Worte zu Melodien werden, Geschriebenes wird hörbar.
Mit seinem Asmin Sextet präsentiert er seine ganz persönliche Musik. Sie lebt von Geschichten und Gedichten. Seine herausragenden Mitmusiker prägen den Gesamtklang mit ihrer musikalischen Persönlichkeit sowie solistischen Leistungen massgeblich. So entsteht ein Stück moderner und dennoch sehr zugänglicher Jazz.

Wenn jemand wie der grosse Schweizer Komponist Dieter Amman sagt, das Lied "The Nail" sei einer der anrührendste Popsong, den er seit Jahren gehört habe, so muss man dem nicht zustimmen, aber man sollte sich ein Ohr voll davon nehmen!
Pianoakkorde mit Gänsehautpotential und eine berührende Stimme beginnen den Song. "The Nail" ist am Schluss der CD "Eigenbrot" zu finden, die im Kofmehl in Solothurn live eingespielt wurde und im September 09 beim Schweizer Jazzlabel Unit Records veröffentlicht wurde. Bevor die Musik bei "The Nail" gelandet ist, nimmt sie uns mit auf weite Reisen und trifft doch mitten ins Herz.
Man kann sich streiten welchem Genre diese Musik entspricht. Das Debut-Album der Eigenbrötler ist eine Dokumentation ihrer Entwicklung vom Jazz hin zu Songs, die sich eher an britischem Songwriting und Rock orientieren. Die dynamische Tiefe, die eigenwillige Soundfarbe und Instrumentation, die komplexen Songstrukturen, der Sinn für lange Bögen und die Freiheit im Umgang mit den Songs lassen ihre Auseinandersetzung mit der Jazzgeschichte erahnen. Ihre Musik aber ist absolut eigenständig, immer wieder überraschend und vor allem sehr berührend. Diese Songs wurden nicht mühevoll konstruiert, sie mussten geschrieben werden.
Ein Zuhörer erklärte nach einem Konzert, die Musik klinge wie extra dunkle Schweizer Schokolade. Nicht wirklich süss, aber etwas sei da drin, das süchtig mache und ihn dazu bringe es wieder und wieder hören zu wollen.

Eingebettet im vielschichtigen und vitalen Spiel der Becken und Trommeln, legt der Bass mit seinem kernigen Sound den Boden. Darüber schwingen sich die beiden Saxophone in unbegrenzte Höhen und erzeugen so einen unendlichen Raum an fantastischen Melodien und Klängen.
